We’ve trained hairdressers and barbers in Torquay for over twenty years — from first-day learners through to qualified assessors. Small groups, working-salon teaching, recognised qualifications.
PROGRAMMES
What we teach.
Four routes into the industry — pick the one that fits where you are now. Every programme is delivered in our Babbacombe Road academy and salon by working stylists and qualified assessors.
Post-16
Study Programme
A fully-funded, full-time Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing or Barbering. Built around national occupational standards and delivered in a working salon — from consultation and cutting to colour, styling and electrical work.

16-24
Apprenticeships
Earn while you learn. Apprentices work in a recognised salon alongside structured off-the-job training, building the practical skills employers actually look for. We work with salons across the South West to place and support apprentices.
Post-19
Adult Diplomas
The City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing or Barbering for adult learners — no prior industry experience required. Can be funded through an Advanced Learner Loan.
Professional
Assessor & Verifier Awards
We deliver the TAQA Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement and the TAQA Level 4 Award for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) — for industry professionals progressing into training and verification roles.

Continue your study in a commercial environment, not a classroom mock-up — with paying clients and live feedback.
We work with referring schools and colleges, place apprentices with salons across the region, and welcome adult learners returning to the chair.
Adult learners
Change career, return to work or formalise existing skills. Funding is available through Advanced Learner Loans.
Employers
Train your apprentices with us. Small cohorts, salon-floor teaching, and dedicated support throughout the programme.

Academy salon
Model price list.
Reduced rates on services delivered by our learners under tutor supervision in the Academy Salon. Prices are a guide — the tutor / assessor has the ability to determine price adjustments based on hair length, density, product used and individual training needs.
On occasion, models are required for certain services and these appointments are complimentary. Please ask for details when you call.
